Work with Me
Disrupting shame unlocks connection and joy
Most people carry shame into spaces where it can often be unintentionally triggered. Learning and talking about shame in an open, kind way can defuse its power, and help us build strategies to manage shame and build resilience. For anyone working with parents, being shame-aware is essential to developing compassionate, accessible and empowering resources and environments.
I can help you and your community of parents or colleagues bring shame into the open, and better achieve your goals of reaching families, especially those that need most support .
What we can do together
-
Learn, Inspire, Empower
Open up gentle and engaging conversations about shame with presentations, webinars or workshops with me. I have worked with diverse groups to customize keynotes, workshops and presentations to large and intimate audiences of educators, staff and parents. As a speaker, I know that when my audience feel safe, connected and positive, they learn better. And I make sure to provide science-based, practical strategies they can bring into work and home.
-
Shame-proof your resources
I can review resources (programs, workshops, handouts, websites, etc) and provide feedback that can make them more accessible, supportive and effective for parents and other audiences. I can flag shame triggers, and offer messages and practices that help to mitigate shame, and/or promote connection.
-
Develop effective learning materials
Enhance existing programs or create something new that promotes shame resilience with me. I have worked with multiple government and community organizations to develop learning resources (workshops, programs, curriculum, activities etc) for parents, educators and youth. I've also developed and taught three graduate level courses at the University of British Columbia. I specialize in mental health promotion, resilience and child development.
